[Case Study] Solving Heat Issues in Engine ECUs

In addition to the calculation of contribution rates, many statistical analysis methods, such as self-organizing maps, are included.

We would like to introduce a case where DENSO utilized "FloTHERM/FloTHERM PCB" and "modeFRONTIER" to solve thermal issues related to engine ECUs. Considering factors such as wiring patterns and EMC, it is impossible to manually arrange hundreds of components. As for the computational method after introducing "modeFRONTIER," in the initial stage, we do not focus on detailed models but instead select components that have a significant impact on the overall system and boldly eliminate parts that can be omitted. We conduct approximately 800 optimization calculations, aiming for about 10 minutes of computation per case. From the suitable solution candidates obtained, we further improve accuracy. 【Features of modeFRONTIER】 ■ A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" ■ Rich in unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites ■ Highly supported by many users ■ Construction of a distributed execution environment using multiple machines without the use of general NQS *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Analysis Case] Exploration of Optimal Conditions for CVD Etching Process

For exploring optimal conditions! Here are examples of utilizing multi-dimensional display charts!

We will introduce a case study of exploring optimal conditions for the etching process, coupled with the detailed chemical reaction analysis program CHEMKIN. In the problem setup, we varied the raw gas supply amount (SCCM) and oxygen concentration to find the operating point where the outlet C2F6 concentration and CF4 concentration are minimized, while maximizing the etching rate (minimizing the film formation rate). As a result of the calculations, it became clear that there is a trade-off relationship between C2F6 concentration and etching rate. Subsequently, we successfully extracted preferred solutions from the multidimensional display chart of "modeFRONTIER." [Case Study] ■ Software Used: modeFRONTIER, CHEMKIN ■ Objective: Exploration of optimal conditions for the etching process ■ Effect: Comparison of preferred solutions using a multidimensional display chart *For more details, please refer to the external link or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Optimization of Methane Combustion Conditions

Exploring optimal solutions in trade-off relationships! Introducing examples of utilizing multidimensional display charts.

We will introduce a case study on the optimization of methane combustion conditions, integrated with the detailed chemical reaction analysis program "CHEMKIN." In the problem setup, we varied the equivalence ratio Φ, preheat temperature Tin, and residence time τ to explore the operating points where the concentrations of NO, CO, and CH4 are minimized. Generally, the concentrations of NO and the combustion efficiency-related CO and CH4 are in a trade-off relationship, and due to strong nonlinearity, comprehensive judgment is required to select the optimal solution. Even for such complex optimization calculations, we provide accurate consulting through the exploration capabilities of "modeFRONTIER" and our technical support. 【Case Study】 ■ Software Used: modeFRONTIER, CHEMKIN ■ Objective: Selection of the optimal solution considering the trade-off relationship between NO concentration and the concentrations of CO and CH4 related to combustion efficiency. ■ Effect: Accurate consulting provided through multidimensional display charts. *For more details, please refer to the external link or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Technology Development for Pedestrian Protection

Improve development efficiency! Establish a method to derive optimal solutions in a short time using response surfaces.

We would like to introduce a case where Honda R&D used 'modeFRONTIER' for the development of technology for pedestrian protection. In actual accidents, pedestrians collide with vehicles "with their entire body." To accurately understand the mechanism of accidents, the full-body model of a pedestrian, "POLAR," was absolutely necessary. In performance verification, a parameter study was conducted to repeatedly calculate until the performance requirements were met, which took a significant amount of time. Therefore, we established a method using the response surface of 'modeFRONTIER' to derive optimal solutions in a short time. 【Features of modeFRONTIER】 ■ A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" ■ Richly equipped with unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites ■ High support from many users ■ Construction of a distributed execution environment using multiple machines, without using general NQS *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Automatic Fitting of 1D Engine Analysis Tool

Strict fitting completed in a short time! Introducing a case of multi-purpose optimization.

We would like to introduce a case where automatic fitting of a one-dimensional engine analysis tool was performed using our "modeFRONTIER." We set design variables for parts that could not be accurately read from 2D drawings into 3D shapes and parameters that are difficult to measure in experiments (a total of 14 variables). We established two objective functions: one for minimizing the squared difference between measured values and calculated values, and another for expressing variability in terms of standard deviation, both of which were minimized in a multi-objective optimization. As a result, a fitting that would be difficult to achieve with experience alone was completed in a short time. 【Case Study】 ■ Software Used: modeFRONTIER, GT-POWER ■ Challenge: Fitting between measured values and calculated values ■ Method: Executed multi-objective optimization with a total of two objective functions ■ Result: Precise fitting was completed in a short time *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
